Counselling is a talking therapy that gives people the opportunity to talk about their problems and the way in which these problems affect them. Counsellors are trained professionals who work with clients to help with any negative feelings and thoughts that they may have.
Mid Wales Rape Support Centre provides specialist counselling and support to women and men who are affected by the trauma caused by Rape and Sexual Abuse. All of our counsellors have a professional counselling qualification and they have also completed our specialist, accredited, course in counselling survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
Counselling sessions are normally weekly for an hour each week. Appointments are usually in our offices in Aberystwyth. We also offer counselling via telephone and Skype for people who are unable to access face to face counselling
Each client has individual needs and problems to overcome, however some of the common issues that we regularly help clients to address are:
- Low self-esteem
- Guilt & shame
- Anxiety & fear
- Self harm
- Suicidal thoughts and feelings
Telephone counselling provides counselling and support over the phone for people who have been affected by rape or sexual abuse. This is an ideal service for people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to access face to face counselling.
Telephone counselling sessions are normally weekly with each session lasting 30-40minutes.
